Join studio-mate Lizz and I as we host the first Popomomo, Curatorial and LA Vintage Exchange Open Studios at our shared workspace just north of downtown LA.

Peruse the lines, check out our studio, sip champagne and shop current and past season popomomo and curatorial pieces. Past seasons will be steeply discounted. And mostly, hang out with us to enjoy a lovely Wednesday.

Popomomo is a women's contemporary eco line known for its intellectually sexy pieces and handmade prints. Curatorial is a lower priced pet project that features vintage, liability and deadstock fabrics in season-right women's shapes.

LA Vintage Exchange is a tight collection of trend right vintage for stylist's and designer's resources, wholesale for boutiques, and for individual clients. Shop hand picked vintage pieces that have been gathered from all over the country.

cottage Style

Last week I received an invite from my aunt Lynn who was in the midst of transitioning from her recent art exhibition opening at Lora Schlesinger Gallery to having a crew from Cottage Style Magazine shoot her live-work cottage in Venice Beach. Featured in Cottage Living Magazine a few years ago, as an artist Lynn has found this is a way to bring her art work to a new viewer. I was to join as her "niece who lives in LA". The few hours I had dedicated towards the shoot turned into a day as I got absorbed with what was going on. One of my favorite shots took place in my cousin's room where my vintage dress was staged on a hanger over the door. Hopeful L.A. Vintage Exchange press to come!

Olive, Emerald & Jade are just a few green nail shades that have caught my attention. In need of a change, a new nail color in my rotation seems mild. With so many choices that reek moldy goth, it is crucial to pick the right shade. OPI's dark emerald polish Here Today Aragon Tomorrow gives off a classy & rich dark feel with a hint of green. And Chanel's nail color in Jade (featured in pic below) is so retro unique- a great accent color for photo shoots & when things warm up.

LA fashion week is here (yes, we still have a fashion week) and Wednesday evening's turn-out at LA Fashion on Broadway held at the historic Los Angeles Theatre downtown was encouraging.

The theme of the night was installations and I started with a preview of Maxine Dillon's Spring collection. The stationary models gave me enough time to pick some of my favorite pieces including the dip dye shirt dress and pleated pants. Her range of looks was ambitious, and Dillon kept it together with similar colors and fabrics.

Eco-line Popomomo was my main draw and did not disappoint. The installation was well displayed on the theatre's stage and we sat in a circle of chairs around two large abstract wood structures. The show started and it immediately became a fluid installation with multiple models on set and a smooth transition of looks. The S/S10 collection was presented for viewers as the models moved stylishly with the music, showing off the functionality of each piece while interacting with the set. So clearly thought out, this season's designs show an immense focus on zippers, buttons & ties while keeping the key drape and clever cut-outs Popomomo is known for. Designer Lizz Wasserman has definitely created a wearable season with numerous pieces I must have. Lucky for me, we share a studio space!

There are a few shows I'm the particularly excited to see including Popomomo & Maxine Dillon at the Los Angeles Theatre, the Jerell Scott show / party hosted by Chic Little Devil, and of course, Gen Arts Fresh Faces in Fashion- my fav!

This year Women's Wear Daily named 4 of the 5 participating Fresh Faces as a L.A. Fashion Week Designer to Watch- the designers on WWD's list include: Kelly Bergin, Seneca Rising, MG Black Label, Leyendecker & Reclaimed in LA.

I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Minnesota. Fall is in the air, meaning it's time for a new/old pair of leather boots. I pulled some of my favorite styles- above the knee, ankle, bootie- then realized I already have a vintage version for each. Guess I'll hold out for a pair of JUSTIN lace-up roper boots. Fingers crossed.

I've been in a long time pursuit for the perfect RED lipstick.

Many reds can have a hint of orange, scream fire engine or give off a deep & dark goth feel. My search was for the purest of all reds.

Recently while cruising the beauty aisles at the local culver city Target I spotted the last tube of L'Oreal TARGET RED. Just by eyeing the color I knew I had a winner. At a $6 price point I could not resist the purchase, and am glad I didn't. The lipstick has become one of my favorite make-up essentials - I've used this color on the models in numerous L.A. Vintage Exchange shoots, given as a birthday present to fashionable friends & carry a tube in my purse at all times. While ok for a photo shoot- no need to layer on the eye make-up like many of the ladies above- keep this look wearable with a natural glow and kissable red lips.

Just got word about vintage buyer March Joseph's "Secret Back Room" sale taking place this weekend in Palm Springs.

Did I read this correctly- men's Armani suits for $120, Zegna sport coats for $40, and women's shoes by Ferregamo and Bally for $25?

Their collection includes 7000 pieces of vintage designer clothing from the 1930s on. As of recent- he only sells via appointment or online- making sales like this worth the drive for serious vintage lovers.
