in New york

I'm visiting the big apple for a few days...
And I've put together a laundry list of vintage stores to visit, but have limited time so I'm starting from the top.
After looking at my route I'm questioning my shoe selection, next time maybe I pack before the two glasses of red wine.

For now, a healthy dose of NYC themed music videos:

Where dreams are made of- like finding vintage Chanel!

Sara Lov + New York is pretty.

Almost as good as spending the day in NYC w Ryan Adams.

drenched In a trench

LA is wet.
The best thing about the non-stop rain is the unlimited opportunities to wear my new/used London Fog Trench Coat and recently purchased MARC by Marc Jacobs Rain Boots. For extra prep points, I've been adding a tartan plaid umbrella. The coat has been a hit, I guess the color and length make a bold statement. And admittedly it is a proud moment when you pull off both stylish and functional in midst of a downpour.

Rain or not, the trench is a classic and if you don't have one, you should consider. I love the vintage London Fog trench I picked up while thrifting or if you feel like a splurge, Burberry Prorsum's gives you plenty to drool over in their Spring 2010 collection...

opening Ceremony

Recently I received a tank and a dress from the Alexander Wang T line as a gift.

The pieces were soft, comfy and completely me- but they also included a gift receipt to Opening Ceremony- offering options! With a drawer full of grey and black cotton basics, I couldn't resist checking out the post-holiday sale at the store on La Cienga.

I decided to squeeze in the return right before my Friday happy hour date with friends at STK up the street. Giving myself a tight deadline did not do much and 10 minutes in I was lost among the numerous rooms. Well worth my time, I ended up with two new favorite tops!

An exclusive Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony Scarf Pullover made with a super cool double-dyed seersucker material.

And, a Thin Jersey Tee by the Swedish brand Fifth Ave Shoe Repair- purchased in black.

Now on my Opening Ceremony Wish List:

Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony Slouchy Giraffe Cardigan

Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony Bass Penny Loafer

Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony Yavapai Blanket

Alexander Wang Army Silk Cut-out Dress

Siu Yin Chau Neck Warmer

resurrection Vintage

The feeling I get when walking into Resurrection on Melrose is similar to what a kid may feel walking into a candy store, a very expensive candy store. It looks so good and I want it all! The NYC & LA based shops offer a unique selection of designer vintage items that I pray to discover each time I'm on the hunt. They recently launched an online store, making this situation even more tempting...

Chanel Leather Bomber Jacket
Chanel Double Chain Gold Cuff
Vintage Louise Vuitton Trunk
Hermes Playing Cards c.1948
Chanel Silk Striped Day Dress
Gucci Vintage Wine Goblet
Zandra Rhodes Yellow Felt Caftan

2009 Music mix

Each year my holiday greeting to friends is a mix of favorite music tracks released in the last 365 days. In '09 I've been listening a lot to Bat for Lashes, Passion Pit and Neko Case- but believe The xx are No.1 on my list thus far.

Courtney celebrates’ 2009

Exploring the beaches of Maui, relaxing in the Catskill Mts,
hitting the vintage jackpot in Vegas, lounging poolside in Palm Springs and still making it back home to MN three times to breath some fresh air- I finally got out of LA in ’09!

Beyond travel- 2009 has been one intense year- from love, to death, to the day to day motions. Hardship brings knowledge, which brings understanding- our biggest contribution to society is compassion and I hope to use a lot more of it in 2010.

Horchata - Vampire Weekend
It Don't Move Me - Peter Bjorn and John
No Intention - Dirty Projectors
Bruises - Chairlift
Blood Bank - Bon Iver
Train Song - Ben Gibbard & Feist
Daniel - Bat for Lashes
My Girls - Animal Collective
Heads Will Roll - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Islands - The xx
Actor Out of Work - St. Vincent
Sleepyhead - Passion Pit
When I Grow Up - Fever Ray
This Tornado Loves You - Neko Case
Never Had Nobody Like You - M. Ward feat. Zooey Deschanel
Possibility - Lykke Li
Blue Lips - Regina Spektor
Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - She & Him

rose Bowl

Sunday AM I woke up extra early to shop
the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market.

The once a month sale is very popular, especially during the holiday months. This week the early morning showers made it an easy entrance.

The wet grounds got my

well worn leather riding boots wet.

So I was in search of the perfect thing
to solve the wet feet problem,
rain boots.

On the way I ran into a

3 story dream house for $65- sold!

Once I landed the dream house,
things started to look good!

These THIGH high motorcycle boots

from The Goods caught my eye.

Also, thought these camel
stacked heel boots were pretty cute.

My day at the Rose Bowl ended a success, including scoring an acid wash Levi's jean jacket + high-waist leather pants, but boot-wise I did not find what I was hoping for...

So I headed to the Marc Jacobs store on Melrose where finally after wanting for so long, I purchased the MARC Rain Boots with the yellow bottoms. So comfy, at $30 w tax, I don't know why I waited so long to get a pair!
