Yesterday, creative forces were in full effect when I asked three of my talented friends (Kristina, Laura & Vee) to help me with a photo shoot I styled for LA Vintage Exchange.

With an indie budget and indie spirit we pulled it off.

The warm sunny L.A. afternoon & champagne w fruit created a perfect vibe.

A few hours in, we got inspired and took the set to the street. The girls walked up & down Martel in wood platforms sporting vintage suitcases. We even made a friend named Joe- who then turned into a creepy stalker when he started to follow us in his car. Laura & Vee literally stopped traffic.

Our vintage sale was rained out.

Instead my weekend of getting things accomplished turned into not-so-much.

I did accomplish going to see the Hangover & spending my Sunday afternoon at the Thompson Hotel rooftop / poolside.

Both wise decisions.

After seeing all the cute suits at the pool- i decided to update my swimwear collection. I'm a fan of mixing & matching pieces: a) you get numerous suits with a few purchases & b) you don't look like everyone else - a major positive in bev hills.

Back from another week long trip. Growing up in a small town - now living in a large city - I have spent many "vacations" post moving to LA at my parents house in Minnesota.

While as a vegetarian the food choices are lacking - I enjoy the clean air, overall natural aesthetic & unbelievable thrift shopping. Some of the most successful vintage finds have taken place at the local bible mission- i've been know to spend hours there & am not afraid to scream out loud when I spot the perfect americana plaid shirt.

I fell in love with Maui the minute we touched ground.

The locals are friendly, weather is amazing & the scenery is out of this world.

It was a great opportunity to pull out my favorite Hawaiian sundresses and put them to appropriate use. Shopping in Lahaina is what you’d might expect: knick-knack tourist crap. I did find the local Salvation Army, which consisted of much stuff under a carport. Because it was Sunday they were only taking donations – no shopping allowed. It wasn’t meant to be & Lady D thanked me.

The braided rattail is my favorite- Mary-Kate Olsen did a nice job bringing this back. Think I may have to spice up my normal braid & give this updated rattail a try.
